Angry blend door stuck, please help!!!

took my blend door actuator off to replace with a new one. tried turning the blend door by hand with the actuator off and it will not budge. I then tried gently using a socket to break it loose and it will not budge. I want to get this moving freely before installing the new actuator. is there a way to free this up without pulling the whole dash apart ? It is a 2000 blazer with the trailblazer package. we just had the tranny replaced this summer and the ac worked great. it is heat season in greenbay, wi. and only got lukewarm air out so this started it.

You might be able to get to the blend door from the engine compartment. Where the blower motor resistors for the manual HVAC system can be removed to allow access the blend door. Even the Computer Climate Control ones can have a removable access panel that you can use to look down onto the top of the blend door. Look at the pictures below.

I've never heard of the blend door getting stuck. There is obviously some friction because otherwise the gears on the blend-door actuators would not crack and slip.

In a pinch, you could manually move the blend door to full hot for the season.

Be sure to report back what you learn.

The AC evaporator is under the green wiggly line. The access panel is circled in red.

This is looking down through the access panel. The blend door is identified with the arrow and the axis of rotation of the blend door is identified with the yellow line. The AC evaporator is to the left and in the upper right is the surface of the heater core. In this position I believe it would be full hot.

opened the access door thanks

I found the door moves freely, i turned it to the full heat position. The **** that sticks up the actuator turns doesn't move at all, so I think the arm in there is broken and stuck. I need to pull the whole dash and hvac components out to get at it. I think it will become a spring project due to it taking so much time.

Oh good to hear that you can at least have heat for the winter.

Yes, taking the dash out would definitely be a spring-time project.
