Ah, I see. Ima n00b when it comes to newer cars. The newest thing I've ever worked on is my hubby's 99 Burban. And even then I kinda stare at the engine saying WTF is this big plastic thing

Yea well... there's not MUCH electrical on my truck. My truck lands right in those years were they started throwing PCM's and **** into these things, so it's a mixture of an older type motor with a few electrical components thrown into it! Atleast that's how I view it, I'm caught in the middle! Not A BUNCH of electrical stuff, but just enough to mess things up! Actually the hard 1-2 shift is an electrical problem in the tranny I believe... go figure!

Is the trans throwing a P1870? If so I'd guess bad TCC apply valve. Rebuild valve body.

If not idk.

You think you're stuck inbetween tech and mech, my 95 has the obdII (switched in the middle of 95) and still has the cpi (without a MAF) Just like you said, just enough to cause problems.

Yea I believe that is ONE of the codes it's throwing..... it threw 3 the last time I ran a scan. One was my O2 sensors, which I've still YET to replace! The other was something to do with SOMETHING in the MPH gauge??? I didn't pay too much mind too it because I looked into it and it was something dumb! And last but not least I believe it was the code you mentioned. Is there a link on rebuilding this valve body and ALSO would this cause a rear end to go out faster than normal??? That was the real question... lol

Not sure about the rear end. I don't think there is a link as far as how to. You can get a manual on the 4l60e i'm sure though.

Check youtube there's videos about how to take them apart and whatnot. It looks more intimidating than it is. just be VERY careful if you undertake it yourself. Like i said i paid a shop to rebuild mine for me.
