Usually when the light goes solid it means you have a burnt out bulb. I would check this first.

I have a 97 Blazer.. When my blinker went solid it turned out to be the relay switch... Mine was located under the dash just behind the ashtray...

There were 2 identical relays in the connector block, I swaped the relays from one side to the other.. the oppositeblinker went solid = Relay failure...Can't go wrong with that diagnosis, costs nothing!I think I paid $3.50 for a new one. Thats all it was...

i got my blinker fixed about a week ago it got worse my brake lights were on constantly but the brakes still worked so i toke it to my mechanic and he looked at it and he found that the blinker asembly on the steering colum was burnt our so he put a new one in and it cost just about $300 the part was 250 and the labor was only 50 because he was a friend of mine.

All indicators point to a problem in the turn signal multifunction switch. All exterior lamps are wired through this switch in the column. I have seen this issue numerous times, although the switch is expensive especially if you have cruise contol. I'd suggest getting one from the dealer, aftermarket ones have proved to be junk in my situations. There was a repair kit availible through GM but I can't remember the part number. If all else fails, beat on the column and see if anything changes.
