Red face Blower switch only works on low (A/C)

I have a 1996 Chevy Blazer 4x4. Last fall the heater blower stopped working so I found a used one and went on You Tube to find out how to replace. Four hours later, I had the old one cut out (gotta love those hidden bolts!) and the new/used one in. It worked right away, but only on High. I was not complaining since it was getting cold outside, high is better than nothing.

Now it is summer, my AC works fine but the blower will only work on low speed, but low speed is in the middle where medium would be. If I try to roll the switch up or down it stops working..So, I keep it in the middle and it blows on low.

I am about to tear the thing apart to find out what I need to replace, but have been reading here and other sites that I might need to start looking at the resistor or maybe it is just that the switch is bad..

Any suggestions?

Resistor possibly,as I have found these switch units to be very reliable! But don't count it out,either... Search this site, your answers will be there! These are easily swapped out and readily available as well!

The resistor switch cost $25 and really easy to replace. It is located on the left rear of the engine to the left of the transmission stick. You will need to cut it out from under the housing with a knife and unscrew the three bolts. Do the reverse to install.

I had the same problem and was able to fix the problem in an hour. Good luck.
