Default Brakes brakes brakes

2003 2Dr ZR2 4WD

Brakes were a little on the weak side and I knew the front calipers were so rusty the pistons were a little stiff and bleed valves were rusted solid, so I replaced both front calipers. Did a 4-wheel 1-man coke bottle bleed, but now have no brakes whatsoever. Did another bleed, no bubbles, still no brakes. The fluid reservoir never got very low so I don't believe any air dropped down into the master cylinder. Does this mean I need to have an ABS auto-bleed done? Would I get an ABS light if that were needed?

are the calipers installed on the correct sides of the vehicle? i've installed driver side caliper on passenger side, and passenger side caliper on the driver side once. experienced the same issue you were having even after bleeding. the bleeding ports need to be pointing up. if the bleed ports are pointing down, they'll never bleed properly

I don't think the ABS light would turn on if you need to bleed the ABS.

I got one of the Vident iLink OBD code readers partly so that I could do an ABS bleed. It worked.

the brake fluid fil resevoir. is the gasket for the cover good?
have you tried bleeding all 4 calipers starting from the farthest point from the master cylinder (rear passenger side)
when you say 'no brakes'. does the brake pedal depress all the way to the floor like theres no pressure?

mine did the exact same thing I replaced a wheel bearing and rotor and caliper and when I put it back together went to bleed the brakes and they went all the way to the floor so I started pumping and bleeding and pumping and bleeding and was not getting any fluid to the rear wheels sometimes I would get a little bit of pedal but it would fade and then finally I backed it up on ramps and open the bleeder on the right rear and got my tubee and my bottle and slowly started pumping the brakes and eventually got fluid in the lines and work my way all the way around and then it was still spongy and then went around all over it again I've never had a vehicle so difficult to bleed the brakes I don't know if it has something to do with the ABS system or what

Both Blazer's I have had gave me problems with bleeding the brakes; have no idea why, but found that using the gravity bleed method was the only method that worked for me.

Starting with right rear, placed a pan under caliper, opened bleeder and walked away. Came back every15 minutes or so to check progress. If I had a steady dripping of brake fluid, closed bleeder, went to next wheel.
After all calipers had fluid to them, used hand vacuum pump or had another person and do the pump/bleed method.

Good luck.
