Default Broken door latch

Hey everyone ,i'm new to the forums but it looks like you guys are pretty helpfull. My problem is my driver side front door latch is completely broken. i actually have to hold the door shut while i am driving. Unfortunately no junk yards around here have one i can pull off and they don't make aftermarket ones for some reason. Of course the dealer wants $150 for one. If anyone has a suggestion on where to look or if u have one on a junker plz let me know. Thanks

Have you checked LMCTruck.com? Don't know if that will help you, but it's worth a try.

Also, what happens when you try to close the door? Its possible that your catch is already closed. If this is true, then take a screwdriver and put it where the fixed stud normally goes in and push toward the interior of the vehicle while holding the outside handle in the open position. Give that a try!

Thanks for the website but the part was still $150 ,way to much in my opinion. The latch is completely broken with no hope. A spring actually popped out of it and the plastic housing around it is in pieces. I tried moving it with a screwdriver but it won't budge.

Anyone know if u have to take out or at least undo part of the window mechanism to get the latch out? By the way a good website for hard to find or oem parts at good discouts is http://allchevyparts.net. I saved $40 on thie latch, not a bad deal.

Never done a latch.

Check the salvage yards. I think you could pick the whole door up for less then $150.
