Probably too late, but you should be able to use a paper clip between terminals 2 & 3 and the light will flash as it does with the standard obdI.

That only works on the OBD1.5 PCMs and *ONLY* for the OBD1 type codes. You cannot pull OBD2 type codes using this method.

And given that the AE scanner worked, the OP must have a fully OBD2 PCM.

ur 95 also has the OBDII system and I can't fathom keeping it on the road for all this time with just OBDI. Between CPI problems and the O2 sensors crapping out it is a fun vehicle to keep up and running.

Default Just my 2 cents

I know this thread is two years old but the info is still relevant. Reason being is the economy is bad and people are wanting to keep their older vehicles running.

Which code reader you get is entirely need dependent. A newer Innova or equus code reader is sufficient for most people. In my case it was not as my 1995 blazer is the B@#*$%d version. Meaning it is the OBD1 system but uses the OBD2 port under the dash.

The autoxray code scout worked good but it needed the GM specific cable. can read codes and sometimes clear them out. It doesn't read ABS codes though. 90.00 including the GM cable I had to order separately.

I ended up buying a Vetronix Tech 1 code scanner (from ebay and had Mass Storage Cartridge) as I had to diagnose my ABS system. Had multiple codes show up. Problem was a Code 65. Open or short with pump motor relay. Long story short, the relay solder connection had broken away from the motherboard. Re-soldered the relay to the motherboard and VIOLA! working ABS system.

The entire system costed me 700.00 but it was worth every penny. I also consider the Vetronix tech 1 a long term investment as I plan on keeping my blazer for many years to come. BTW, I reprogrammed the PCM to accomodate my specific tire size so now my speedometer is accurate.

The Tech 1 will read OBD2 systems up to 1999 I believe.
