A/C or Clutch issue?
I have a 05 4 door 4-wd. I just recently attained. I have the maintenance records from the county from day one when new till now. It has 121k on it. When I turn the A/C on there is a noise rattling sound. When A/C clutch is disengaged the noise stops. I listen to the compressor with a long screw driver to my ear. I hear the noise but its faint. It seems to becoming from the clutch. But from what I have read, everyone says it's the compressor going. It blows freezing cold, the records indicat that the compressor was changed in 12/02/2011 with 90k on it. Also an evaporator and high pressure switch and belt. Any ideas??? Thanks….
I wouldn't think the compressor would be going out so soon, after you had it changed. The clutches are half the price of a new compressor, though, so it would suck to buy one, only to find out it's the compressor.
Yeah Im kind of drawn to just leaving it as is. If it is the comp. then eventually it will go. If it last a few months then I'll go and get a clutch. A new clutch is like $39-49 bucks. A new comp. is $165. My buddy thinks its the clutch. If I do replace the clutch, should I purchase the tool or just rent it if they have it?
