Default A/C Clutch replacement

Hello,

I own a 2002 Blazer 2DR LS and currently have a Everco A/C compressor on it. I'm in need of replacing the A/C clutch and do not want to have to replace the whole unit due to redoing the freon and so forth. Question I have is if I purchase a GM clutch, is it compatible with the Everco compressor or do I need the same model clutch? Thanks guys!

If Everco uses a Harrison H6 compressor:

the GM clutch will fit. If Everco uses a Sanden compressor:

or some other brand compressor:

the GM clutch probably will not fit.

It looks exactly like the Harrison but is listed as Murray 251281.

Harrison probably manufactured it then, and Murray/Everco markets it, that's pretty common practice. I'd say the GM clutch will most likely fit. You might check with a local auto parts store, you might be able to get a better price than through GM. Make sure you set the clutch air gap. Assembled spec is .020" to .030" Too wide of a gap and the clutch will not engage, too close and it will drag and burn up prematurely.

Thank you for your help!

I looked up advanced auto and autozone.

Autozone had best prices.

Also, the reason I was replacing it was that I'm getting whining coming from the compressor when I accelerate. Do you think it would be better to replace the whole clutch or just the bearings?

If the clutch is engaged when you hear the whining, it could be the compressor or it could be the bearing. Hard to say for sure because the bearing spins whenever the engine is running, whether the clutch is engaged or not.
