Default A/C Clutch Replacement Question

A bearing in my a/c clutch has gone bad. Its a deafening noise. I have been driving my other vehicle because I'm afraid the clutch will lock up and burn the belt up. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've heard you need a special tool to do it. Any help would be great. Thanks

If the bearing that the pulley rides on is going bad, unplugging the clutch won't relieve the issue. If its the bearings in the compressor, then yes.

As far as removing the clutch/pulley goes, both the HT6 & V7 compressors that my references mention require a few different special tools to get down to the pulley bearing.

Thanks for the help and info. I ended up getting a new compressor from NAPA and put it in and recharged my system. New vacuum lines too. Big difference
