Default A/C Compressor sweating.

Hey guys! Yes I search before I posted.

My AC for the most part is cold, but every so often it will get a little warm. It was a hot humid day here in NC, so of course I was running it full blast. Drove around town here and there for about an hour or so. When i parked the truck i noticed alot of water dripping from underneath.

So i opened the hood and the whole ac compressor is sweating and every line associated with it as well.

What would cause this?

Thanks!

When you say, "the whole ac compressor is sweating and every line associated with it as well" does this mean the lines from the compressor to the condenser, the condenser itself, as well as lines from the condenser to the evaporator? It's normal for the evaporator and accumulator to sweat, and even the low side line near the compressor, if the humidity is high. If so, checking the high and low side pressures is required to acurately diagnose the problem. I hate guessing but, If I had to guess, I'd say the fixed orifice tube is torn and the system is overcharged.

some sweating is normal but only on the cold side if there is a alot id have to say there is a problem with the F.O.T.

Well I honestly don't know what part I'm talking about. Its the big silver cylinder looking thing. That is sweating and all lines going from it are as well. Up to the part that's connected to the pulley system. Make sense?

Based on your guess. Is that orifice tube something that can be done at home?

Yes it is. And then 2 tubes go the opposite direction to the part that's connected to the pully system.

dont worry its normal, thats the low/cold side of the a/c. if the pully part of the system ie. compressor is sweating than theres a problem.
