Default A/C Disable?

I have a 95 Blazer LS 2wd and the a/c compressor is making a loud ratcheting noise when the pulley is engaged.the sound seems to come from the compressor and not the pulley.i don't have money to replace the compressor and don't want it to explode while driving.can i just unplug the wires on the front that engage the pulley without causing problems.don't really need a/c in Western Washington state

Yes you can unplug the wires from the compressor, that way you will be sure that the compressor clutch does not engage, even on defrost the compressor will cycle to remove moisture from inside the cab

For my 98, since the condenser got busted... we unplugged the fuse and the clutch no longer engages.... Will be like that until I get around to refilling the ac... lol

How exactly does your compressor bolt in? Do the bolts go in from the front of the compressor? If so, there's an A/C compressor bypass pulley that you can install to get you by. I'm 99% sure SyTy's use the same compressor and bracket.

Thanks everyone.I disconnected the wires and the truck seems to run a little stronger. The compressor must of been bad since I got the truck and was sucking hp, it always made a ratcheting noise but not as bad as recently.Aside from a little moisture in the cab I think this counts as a performance mod Thanks again.

Just a note about pulling the fuse ,,,if you pull the fuse #4 it will also disable the 4WD actuator---just disconnect the wires at the compressor--(I pulled the fuse and had no 4WD in a monster storm) (Thanks to George for this info)
