A/C Woes on a '98
First post...
Got a 98 4 door that blows hot air. New compressor, new accumulator w/ low pressure switch. Reading appropriate voltage across the low pressure switch, and other electronics controlling the cycling relay seem to be in order.
I have charged/discharged the system, as well as flushed both the condenser, evaporator, and lines. From inside the car, the HVAC controls will engage the compressor, and the cycle looks to be working (compressor is on, accumulator gets icey cold), yet inside the car, all I get is hot air. The temperature control **** blows hot air on cold, and even hotter air on red. At this point, I'm thinking there is a problem with the blend door actuator inside the dash. The HVAC mode selector will send air to the proper areas (Max AC = everywhere, a/c is just up top, and defrost to the windshield). Anyone have any other thoughts on what to check before I rip out the dash and throw more money down the pit?

No mention if this is manual HVAC or Automatic Climate Control.
The accumulator is "downstream" of the evaporator. So if the accumulator is getting cold, so is the evaporator. As mentioned, look for a problem with the blend door actuator. The gear is nylon and it likes to break

I'd start by checking the vacuum lines at the left of the firewall by the brake booster. If the joints or hoses are rotting and leaking, it might not be supplying enough vacuum to engage the blend doors like it's suppose to.
Not all that uncommon for a pen or something to fall in the defroster duct and jamb the door. If/when that happens, the first time you adjust the temperature, the gear will break, and you have no control of outlet temperature.
