Default Can't Open Doors Or Tailgate

1996 Blazer 2 door. I found out last winter that my 2 ignition keys will not open my doors. Luckily I was able to use the keys in the tailgate (battery in remote was dead) and when I turned the key the door locks opened. I have not driven the Blazer in a few months and the battery is completely dead. The remote open fob does not work and turning the key in the tailgate lock does nothing. It does turn but I think it opens the locks electrically. I looked in the grill area to see if I could see any mechanical way to open the hood so I can charge the battery but I see nothing.

Is there a way to open the hood manually? Is there a way to open the tailgate manually? Both keys turn the tailgate lock they just don't work in the door locks.

Thanks for any help.

Dennis

Well yes to the hood. If you use a tire tool or a 1 foot long screw driver, you can look up under and see where the cable attaches to the hood latch. The cable comes from the driver side. It's a pain but laying on the ground with a flashlight you can find it. My latch was broken on my old jimmy and for a couple months I had to do this until she finally gave up the ghost. Once there you can get the hood open, replace the bat and unlock from the hatch. I miss that. WHY DIDN"T THEY CONTINUE THAT FEATURE???!!!

Thank you, I will try that as soon as I can. Hopefully later today. If the vehicle battery had power the remote door open fob would open the doors. I just need to charge the battery. Finding keys that open the door locks would be nice too.
