Exclamation Clatter / Clunk head area noise

My 99 blazer started the noisy lifter sound ( tic tic tic) about a month ago
and around the same time I noticed something else.. it would cut out under
regular to heavy acceleration from 35-50 mph, giving a misfire sound and torque pull or discharge noise on the drivers side.

Christmas eve under cruise control at 75mph started up a hill it shifted down, and it did it again, this time with significant power loss and went from tic tic noise to bad clatter/clunking noise. It seems to be in the upper top of engine.

My thought was push rod or rocker arm broke, not tech savvy on these engines.

Had it towed home and put in garage. Sucks I just dropped 1100.00 on finishing the front end total replacement of all parts a week earlier.

What's your thoughts.????

Time to get the valve covers off to take a look. Could be a simple broker rocker. Getting the valve covers off is not difficult, messy, but not difficult.

Let us know what you find.

Good luck.

Once you’ve made sure that you’re not hearing the vibrations of loose metal, a quick check of the valve train will tell you if there’s something physically wrong with one of the parts. If not — it’s likely that a flushing agent and an oil additive added to the fresh oil will do the trick and silence your lifters.

Then going for the oil with the density prescribed by your manufacturer will be your best go. Again I recommend changing the oil density to other than what the manufacturer recommends can make the oil too thin or too thin. Neither of them is good for your engine.
