I have the same problem on a 99 2 door zr2 blazer.

Does anyone know if the steering wheel/air bag have to be removed to replace the multi-function blinker/hazard/cruise switch (any additional details on the process of removing/installing this switch would also be greatly appreciated)?

Has anyone ever taken the faulty one out, examined it,and found a fixable problem, fixed it and put it back in successfully (it would be great if i could avoid paying the 200$ for the new switch)?

Thanks

it looks like there are only 2 star heat bolts holding it on, is that right? Any ideas on how to get the side bolt out, there is no room behind it?

any help from anyone who has replaced one of these would be great. I have gotten the multi disconnected from the column but the wires disappear into the dash, and are tied to other wire bundles and etc and the multi costs 200$ so this is definately not a easy fix that is done with fairly little disassembly and not a lot of $$$.

Where do the wires end and how do i get to them?

just another note but when i can hear the clicking noise, none of the dash blinkers are flashing but if i slightly depress the hazard the right turn signal indicator on the dash lights up (blinking).

Based on the other post, he was having difficulties with the removal of the multifunction switch (see why double posting is bad...).

I believe he figured out how to remove the mutlifuction switch and that he repaired the problem by replacing it as suggested.
