Default Cluster panel?

Need some help guys I have a 1998 chevy blazer today i turned my truck on. When i looked down at the cluster panel It showed it was in park but like 4sec later it did not show it was in park anymore. Then i tryed to put it in gear and it was not telling what gear it's in (P,R,N,D,2,1) and the temperature gauge and the fuel gauge is not working, Also the low fuel light is on when i know i have a full tank and the red battery stays lit. (Just put a new battery in) Could it be a bad Cluster panel?

dumb question but, could the battery terminals be put on backwards by accident when it was installed? if so then this could cause some componets to fry, like parts of the Cluster control module (which i think is the BCM)

You can probably get it repaired or rebuilt. There's a post about 01 ABS problems today that gives a place called Module Mastersthat might help you out. Check out the post. It has a link to them.

If you can't or don't want to get it repaired just try looking at a junk yard or something. You should be able to pick one up fairly cheap. Keep an eye out on the forums too, every so often a cluster will come up for sale.

Same thing happened to me, with the gear selection and said the truck was going 5mph standing still. 6,000 miles out of warranty the Chevy dealer replaced it under warranty along with another third brake light as mine had condensation in it. Its the 5th one ive got. Shows what being friendly with service and gm can get you. Now even though I work for a Ford dealer, Chevy does my work on the Blazer and the Xterra.
