Hi. Does anyone know witch backing plates to use to convert a rear disc brakes to drum brakes on a 2000 S10 Jimmy 4x4. I am putting the rear end in my 54 Chevy 210 , theirs no room for the calipers as the frame is not designed for it.(clearance problem). Also witch drums do I need.

 

Any backing plate from a first gen drum brake will work. However the axle mounting flange is different between the drum and disk brake. I did the reverse on my 89 S15 Jimmy. I had to cut the axle flange square for the disk brake conversion. I used 2000 Bravada parts for my drum to disc conversion. The drum brake axle flange has the mounting for the wheel cylinder and the hold down for all the springs. The pic shows the drum axle flange before I squared it off for the disc brake conversion.

 

You're probably better off just grabbing an axle with drums from a Pick n Pull if you have one near you.

 

I have a 373 posi I don’t want to loose it. I will figure it out, I was looking for an easy way out. Thanks Dwight

 

Just swap the gears in the axle when you swap it in...
