Default couldn't get the dome override to work

well the other day I was on here, and I was reading about the whole push the dome override button 4-6 times and it would ding and turn off the headlights or something of that nature. Well when I went out to my truck and tried it, I couldn't get it to to work. So I was wondering if there is any type of sequence or something else that I haven't been doing correctly. So if some one could be so kind as to walk me through what to do it would be appreciated!

There are some vehicles where this just does not work, such as vehicles sold in Canada. I'm not sure if this is something that can be turned on and off (via TechII scantool) or not, but we have seen a few US blazers that didn't have this capability.

I am not sure what year they started doing this on the Blazers, I know I have a 1998 and it doesn't work. It works on my Dads 2002 Suburban (5times). you must have the key in the ignition and turned to the run position. It helps if the lights are on and then you can tell if it works. I would push the button 4 times at 1 second intervals, if that doesn't work wait 20 seconds and remove the key and try again, this time pushing it 5 times. If that doesn't work you could repeat above steps and try pushing it 6 times. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Ok well I'm sure it works because a guy I work with showed me how to do it then when I was on the way home, I couldn't get it to work at all. And he said it was odd because it didn't ding when he did it

Maybe because you might've been driving when you did it?

Actually I was in the parking lot when I tried. Should the car be in park or does it not matter?

-->and how exactly would I be able to tell if my blazer is a Canadian model (seems like a stretch) probably a sticker in the door jams saying it?

In my experience, if it is Canadian the large numbers on the speedometer would be in Kilometers per hour and small numbers would be in miles per hour, opposite of whats on US cars. Maybe onlynorthern parts of Canadian Provinces where its the law that every english language sign must also display french language.

The headlight shut-off thing worked on my 2000 ZR2 blazer and pick-up, but doesn't work on my 1999 LT, also I can find nothing in my 1999 GM factory service manual on the headlight thing.

I have noticed that if I do not push the button in straight it seems to catch on something and breaks the cycle, causing me to have to push it once or twice more. Perhaps this is what is happening with your's.
