Default Couple Questions from a new owner

I have a couple questions regarding my 96 2wd s10 blazer...

1) Only after the engine is hot, the transmission seems to "pop" from 1st to 2nd and the hotter it is, the worse it becomes, why is this?

2) I want to put my spare up on the roof rack, what should i use for tie-downs?

Hello and welcome,
In regard to the transmission, I assume you've checked the fluid level? How many miles does your vehicle have? The 'search' feature of this forum is a great resource. I do recall seeing other posts in the past regarding hard 1-2 shifts so you might want to try that.

As for your tire, I don't know but make sure it's tied down really good!

Hello,
With regards to the roof rack consider maybe a larger rack then the one the is factory issued because of the weight of the tire. some good kevlar tie downs come in all colors and are cheap they are usually pretty durable

ummm..........is your tire filled with concrete?

seriously, just how much do you think it weighs? (no matter how you read that, it's gonna come across as harsh, but i'm not trying to be) the roof rack is rated for 150 lbs.

as for what tie dows.........any nylon ratcheting straps will work fine, just don't use the ones that you only "pull" to tighten. buy some with an actual ratchet on them.

if the trany was rebuilt 15K ago, why were the seals replaced after only 5K? have you had it back to the trany shop that rebuilt it? i know it's more than likely out of warrenty, but you shouldn't be having issues with it already.

the tranny was rebuilt with the last owner who did it himself. it was less than stellar work because after being on the freeway for about five minutes it started leaking all over so i had to take it to the shop where they replaced the seals and no leaking or anything since

Corvette servo plus a shift kit can leave 2nd gear pretty stout. Unless some modification was done, it shouldn't be doing that. I think if you elaborate on 'pop'... such as audible, or physical?

have you ever driven anything with a **** kit in it? is it somewhat like that 1-2 shift?

could be your trany has some dirt in the valve body somewhere, making a valve stick slightly.
