Default Crank Sensor Reluctor Ring

1995 (diagram 1996) GMC Jimmy 4.3L 4WD

Would you know "How is the Crankshaft Sensor Reluctor Ring under the
Timing Cover held in place" so as not move around and chew up the Timing cover ? The Ring which the Crank Sensor reads.
Is their a specification as to its actual forward/ backward location on the front of the crank ?
I see woodruff key then a small space and a second woodruff key on
the crank which this ring slides onto , however , how does it stay in
one place and not move forward or backward ?

I believe it should have been pressed on, It should be held in place by an interference fit. Many times in situations like this the crank would be frozen and the reluctor ring would be heated. The expansion and contraction from heating and cooling would allow the parts to slip together more easily.

The reluctor ring just slides on the crankshaft, no interference fit. The reluctor ring is captured between the timing gear and the vibration dampener. Just like a brake rotor is captured between the axle hub and the wheel.
