Cylinder Head question
#11
Now stupid question, but I recall seeing videos of engine rebuilds and teardowns where they mention the pushrods for the valves and needing to make sure they remain matched with the cylinder in question. If I were to get a junkyard head that was in serviceable condition, would I want to reuse the pushrods from the engine in the blazer, or grab the ones from the engine the head comes from?

Use the ones you already have. Also, use the rocker arms you already have and put them back on the same cylinders they came off of. In other words, keep each pushrod end with the lifter and rocker arm it's mated with. If you mix them up, chances are you'll be fine. But it's easy enough to keep them together and it can't hurt.

Hydraulic lifters run at zero lash. They're actually preloaded. On adjustable ones, it's usually something like zero lash plus one turn. On non-adjustable ones, you just torque them down.
