Dead Blazer no power
Here is the prob. with my 01 blazer. It would not start fried starter and installed new one and started first try, shut it off closed hood whent to start it to take out of the shop nothing happened, battery was dead charged then started. A few hours later same problem turn key lots of power go to start nothing lights go out no more power and there is some clicking noise comming from the passenger side. Tried with 2 different batteries and same thing. Not sure if it's faulty ground or what at this point. Also volt meter shows plenty of battery power. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
To save yourself some time take the battery(s) somewhere and make sure they are good. From what i've been told the starters require 575cca to start and that low voltage "while cranking the starter", can damage it. On a side note, I had the same problem a while back and went through two starters in one week. The battery I had was only 500ca and my positive cable was melted by the exhaust manifold and had been grounding out.
I think I can narrow my problem down I took battery and battery box out and was going to look for bad grounding issues and decided to connect the battery to the main battery cables via booster cables tried to start it up and turned over twice and fired right up like a true chevy. Turned it off and tried this method three other times tested with volt meter plenty of power from alt. and battery. put it all together wont start I think possible ground out on battery box will try something new with battery box noticed i was missing one of the bolts for the box hopefully this is my only prob.
I have it running now sprayed some live rubber on the battery box put a new bolt where the missing one was put all together and started like new must have been grounding out on the box will try starting again latter tonight to see. Tested with volt meter again plenty of juice from battery and altenator.
