distributor drive gear installation ?
i was in the process of replacing a bad lower intake gasket and discovered that the distributor drive gear is badly worn, got the old one off and am waiting on the new one to arrive. i didnt notice until after i got the gear off that there is a dimple on the gear, how does the dimple align with the rotor when its together? i figure if my marks dont line up when i put it back in, im 180 off, but if theres a way to know how to have it lined up right befoore its put in, that would be a good thing.
On my '98 the metal tab of the rotor is on basically the opposite side from the electrical connector with the dimple lined up on the paint mark on the distributor shaft. "1" & "3" on the following image at this link distributor_alignment.gif Photo by swartlkk | Photobucket
