Default Distributor problem?

I have a 2000 LT Blazer 4x4, 92K and change on mileage.

My situation is this: I hear a whinning noise through the speakers, just like the one you hear when the Alt is going bad. My alt is good, replace it 9 months ago and when it started up again, took it back and had it replace (2 days ago) also life time warranty sure help. (also the old one tested out good, but didn't take any chances)

So I'm pretty sure its not that, could it be something in the distributor? These new fangle cars are a head ache...give me a 56 chevy and I'm in heaven.

Thanks
Dennis

Default RE: Distributor problem?

I would be more inclined to think it is a problem with the radio itself...

Even with the radio off?

I remember the old days (I'm 60) when that problem happen it was the transitor on the side of the distributor. Do they still have those?

Or what about the Distributor module?

Yes it is possible for it to cause this type of noise even with the radio "off". I put that in quotes because the radio never really turns off. Try pulling the fuse and see if that changes things.

SorryI haven't gotten back yet on the issue but, I haven't use the truck lately and it went to the back burner of my brain.

But, When I do use it, I will try that and get back with you on your thoughts.

Thanks

Well, I think I found the problem, the battery cable was not snug.

I had just change the Alt out and didn't get the battery cable(pos) snug enough.

I should have known better, I have had this problem before.

But thanks for the input.
