does front and rear differential need regular oil changes

i have only heard the horror stories if you flush the tranny if it has gone awhile without a change.
if you just change the pan and filter, all should be good

I have started this thread on the importance of changing your differential fluids even though the mfg. have no recommendation on it. And the discussion went onto transmission fluid. I agree with changing your transmission fluid, but what about your differentials.
