Default Door chime keeps dinging with no key in ignition and door CLOSED!

Ok so this morning I was going out to leave for work and heard a dinging noise, and realized it was coming from my son's 2002 Chevy Blazer. I can hear it dinging from inside, but the door is closed and there's no key in the ignition. Now get this... when I open the door, the dinging STOPS! So it's only dinging when the door is closed. It's the slower ding that you get after the key is in and the ignition is in the ACC position. I tried putting the key in and going through the different positions, opening and closing the doors, making sure the headlights and dome lights are off... nothing changes it. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

There is a "key in ignition switch" input to the BCM that grounds that BCM pin through the ignition switch that may be stuck closed, or the wire may be shorted to ground. The switch is normally open and the BCM pin floating with no key in the ignition. I wont be near my blazer today to see if normal operation is for that chime to stop if the door is opened which would help confirm. Does the chime go out when the engine is started? You can monitor for ground on a lt green wire going into the BCM on C2/B9 or on that wire under the column. The confirmation would be to cut that wire in a repairable way either near the BCM or under the column, or on the black wire from the ignition switch to the frame ground. If that pin is not being grounded with the key out of the ignition then the BCM may have taken a dump.

Just ran across this thread and same just happened to me. Not exactly sure about the sequence of events but it happened when I used the key to open the drivers door and stopped when I used the keyless entry/lock on the fob. Not sure if OP will be back but for my own benefit I will try and see if I can duplicate it..
