This might seem real lazyazz, but do you thinkit'd be ok tojust braze some solderon there then file it down to size?

that would work but to be honest its eaiser to weld with a mig than it is to braze. it would not be quite as perminent to braze than to weld but should still hold up fairly well.

Brazing should hold up. Not everyone has a mig welder in their garage.
