Default DRL issues

my DRL's will not work. sometimes only the headlights stay on during the day and once every blue moon the DRL's will work for a day or two. any idea on how to figure out what the problem could be? thanks in advance.

What are you driving?

Once I know that, I will move this thread into the appropriate tech section.

You don't have a bunch of paper on the dash that covers the ambient light sensor in the passenger side speaker grill do you?

Thanks so much for mentioning the location. I searched for 10 minutes with Google trying to find where it was. One video showed it under the center vent cover. I just looked and you are dead on. Now I can fix the lights staying on all the time.
