Default DRLS

I was just interested in disabling my daytime running lights on my 99 2dr blazer. If anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it.
Thanks!

I dont know about disable but to turn them off, press the dome override button three times quickly and you will hear the chime. This will turn off the daytime running lights.

I dont know if there is a difference between the 99 and 2000 but on the 2000 models, right below the headlight switch, there is a round button that should say dome override, press it three times and you will hear a chime and the DTRL will go off.

I know this thread is old, but I can't help but reply to it, since I've done this on my truck. If you don't know what the Dome Override button is, then you don't have one. It's in an obvious place, right below the headlight switch. If you don't have it -- then that's good, and here's why.

If you hit the DO button several times, it turns off the DRLs, but only during that driving session. Once you turn off the ignition, it resets itself again. I did it on my girl's '01 Jimmy, and indeed, the annoying lights come back on the next time you drive. She doesn't care, though. In fact, she LIKES the damn things...

However, on models PRIOR to the introduction of the DO switch, all ya have to do is pull out the fuse. I forget exactly which number it is, but it says "Fog/DRL." Of course, the downside is that if you have fog lamps, they will no longer work either. Since my '96 Blazer has neither a DO button nor fog lights, this 5-second fix worked fine for me.

I'm sure there's a way you can rig the wiring to make the fog lamps work while disabling the DRLs. However, I don't want fog lamps enough to care. LOL

Hope this helped.

Go to the fuses located under the hood (Black box next to air box.) Open it and find the relay labled DRL. Pull out the relay. On the bottom of the relay you will see 5 prongs with the numbers 30, 85, 86, 87 and 87a. Take some pliers and bend the prong numbered 86 up toward the top of the relay. This will prevent that prong from engaging and will deactivate the DRL's. Replace the realy and put cover back on.
