I am thinking my EGR valve could need to be cleaned / replaced, GMC Safari w/4.3 engine. It seems to be a little slow to start,,, have to crank it a little longer than in the past,,, after it starts,,,,,,,,, it idles not so good,,,,,,,, surges,, never stalls,,, but constant surge. Highway speed no issues noticed,, seems fine,, but when at idle,, it surges hot or cold. Sometimes, when starting, if I turn ignition on and off 2 or 3 times,,, it will start right away,,,, thought maybe fuel pump was getting tired,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but again ,, no issues noticed at higher rpms,,,,,,,,,,,,,, so,,, starting on the free fixes first,,, cleaning egr valve,,,, I saw a youtube on a 4.3 egr valve for Astro / Safari,,, showed it under cabin hood, near distributor,,, but then on a search found an answer saying to remove the air cleaner to access egr ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ????? Both cannot be true can they ,, again 1995 GMC Safari AWD van, 43.L V-6
