Is there something wrong with the fan clutch? It's far more reliable, moves more air faster, easier to diagnose & replace, no relays, no wires, no switches, no fooling around trying to make it fit. That's why rear wheel drive vehicles use them
Front wheel drive had no choice, they had to settle for electric fans.

This is how I did my e-fan install. I did it this way because all parts were from junkyard and cheap, but reliable.

The Volvo relay handles all the power to the fan (This could also be used for dual fans). If you ground "IN 1", then power goes out through "OUT 1". If you ground "IN 2" then "OUT 1" goes dead and "OUT 2" is powered. I am told the Volvo relay will handle the draw of the Taurus fan on high.
This is a new install for me so I have no lengthy experience. I located the temperature sensors in the heater hose going to the heater core. I did this by using some 1/2 inch copper pipe and fittings. I had to tap the threaded fittings to accept the metric threads of the temp sensors (I'm sure there is a better way to do this). You also have to make sure the fittings for the temp sensors are pointed down or on a downward angle to avoid getting an air bubble stuck in the sensors.
The diagram should explain the rest.
Note: Wiring it this way gives you a switch cut off for four wheeling in mud/water, but will still come on when the AC is activated (in case you forget to turn the switch back on).
