Default Emergency Brake Release

I have a 98 Blazer with 221,000 miles on it and I very seldom use the emergency brake. Had occasion to use it yesterday, and when I tried to release the brake the cable had completely disconnected.
I pulled the lower dash cover and can't find anywhere to release the brakes so I can get it to the shop or to reconnect the handle.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

If the cable has completely disconnected, then the brakes should be released. Or are you talking about the release handle inside? Please clarify.
