Encoder Motor Replacement - 01 Bravada
#1
My AWD is not working and I was able to get the codes read and the encoder motor is bad. My question is, how hard is it to replace the encoder motor? I see that is "behind" the front driveshaft....do I have to remove the driveshaft to get to it, or can it slip out on its own when the bolts are removed? Just trying to determine how extensive the job will be before I get started.
Thanks in advance for the advice!

I helped a friend replace his and we did not remove the front driveshaft. It was a pain to do with it in place. My advice, try to get it off without removing it. If you can't, you didn't really waste much time, if any.

Thanks for the advice! I looked and it appears that getting to the mounting bolts is possible, just inconvenient as can be.....I'll give it a shot!

Got it done...ended up having to take off the driveshaft as there just wasn't quite enough room to get it out....but it took just a few hours total. Now i have AWD again...and JUST in time for this weather in KY. Thanks Kyle!
