Question Engine never reaches operating temp

I've had this issue with work trucks before and have always dismissed it.
The temp gauge only tells me the engine has warmed up 1/4 of the way. After 1hr+ of driving, it stays at 1/4 warm. If theres any clear cut solution to getting the engine to operating temperature itd be appreciated. I feel like a lower operating temp will impact my mpg.
Its a 2000 blazer btw. Had it for 6 weeks or so.

Oil pressure is always at at least 1/2 - 5/8. Just did an oil change. Coolant was low in the reservoir when i bought it & have filled it up to no avail.

First you need to confirm the actual coolant temperature. Whats the ECT temp on a scanner? If you have an IR gun, shoot the sender area and the thermostat housing.

Replace the thermostat, their cheap. Or if you are really tight on fund, test the thermostat and then replace. My guess is your thermostat has failed in the open position, as they are designed to do.

If you have an android device, Les can get you set up with a blue tooth dongle and software. That the most capability for minimum outlay. I bought a used android tablet on eBay and a BT dongle on Amazon. I have since moved on to a high scan tool but before all of this, my first Actron was a good basic scanner. In nova also seems to get good marks. Maybe someone here can recommend a current model if you don’t go the android route.

You said that you have replenished the coolant "to no avail".

What does that mean?
That the coolant level is low again?

To no avail of the coolant temperature problem. The coolant level has stayed the same since i filled it up.

What kind of gas mileage are you getting? If it's low that could tell us if the engine is actually cold or if there's a problem with the temperature signal or gauge.

Last fill up has gotten me 270km (168 miles) and im down to my last 1/3 or 1/4. Will provide more accurate info next time I fill up. Good mix of city/highway driving. Whats a full tank usually get you guys range-wise?
