hey all,
So I recently had an emissions test done on my car. The mechanic told me i needed a new evap canister so i to him to go ahead and do it so i could pass emissions.
After i got my blazer, my diagnostics tool is still giving me a fail, and my check engine light is still on.
So my question is, where is the evap canister/what is the easiest way to inspect it to make sure they actually replaced a part.
oh, and he lied to me because you only need to get 7/8 to pass emissions here in ontario.
Any help would be much appreciated

If it's setting an evap code it could be as simple as needing a new gas cap. If the system senses a pressure leak anywhere it will throw the code. From what I've read online, it's rarely the charcoal canister that is the source of the problem unless you've somehow flooded it with fuel, or gotten water into it somehow.
It could also be the purge solenoid. Look for a small black box bolted to the cross member in front of your spare tire. It will have a vaccuum tube that goes to the fuel tank. It can get plugged with dust, mud, etc. and throw the code too. Unbolt it and clean it really good, then see if that fixes your problem.

at work when we replace emission controlled items we never clear the code. the truck has to do its drive cycle and shut it off itself. if you just clear it and go take it tested if the emission section "isnt ready" then it will fail.
but you would think they would inform you of that before you took your truck back
