Default Exterior mirror issue

My original mirror was broken internally and wouldn't adjust to the left. I ordered a new mirror online and installed it. When driving down the road the glass mirror part wiggled all over the place. I contacted the seller and they issued a refund. I then went online and ordered the high end model. Installed it today and when I got the rig out on the road it wiggled as bad as the first one. Am I missing something? The only visual difference is the original has a rubber insulating piece that sits between the mirror housing and the door while the aftermarket mirrors use foam. I tighten the mirrors down pretty tight so I don't think it's the entire assembly. Could the foam be the problem?

Is it the whole mirror assembly that is wobbling or only the glass? I've replaced a couple of these with junk-yard ones and have never had an issue with fitment.

If I remember correctly, there is only three nuts that go on bolts. I would think it would be easy to tell that the mirror was not on securely without having to go for a drive.

The housing doesn't move at all, just the glass mirror. I've thought about swapping the original rubber gasket for the foam but I wouldn't be able to return it for a refund if I do that.

So the mirror part wiggles when you are driving but it is not loose when just sitting there in the housing? No matter what, it sounds like an issue with the mounting of the glass to the tilting mechanism. There is no reason that the mounting hardware that attaches the housing to the door should have anything to do with the glass piece being loose.

Any pictures you can post?

I might have an old mirror that I opened up if you would like some pictures of the innards of one.

Christine I would love to see the pics if you do. I've considered opening up the original to see if it's fixable. I'll see if I can't take a video tomorrow.

Not particular with Blazer, but some other car brand I have had a same problems with a substitute mirrors to the original ones. I would suggest getting a genuine ones from wreckers. Not only a solid design but probably a cheaper option too.

Bad news, I think I might have tossed the old mirrors I had. The problem is I also cannot find where my extra mirror is currently. If I find it might find the one old disassembled mirrors I thought I had kept.
