Default Freon Problem?

My ac is out and the compressor kicks on once or twice but turns right off, this means its very low on or out of freon correct? Now that I got her running right i would like to get the ac working, can I just use a few cans that they sell at advanced auto?

You'd want to check for a leak first. If you're leaking freon there is no point in charging it. Use a black light, freon will react to the black light.

That would be a good point..if it's been a while you wouldn't be able to detect a leak, as it would have all dissipated. You'd probably just have to charge it and hope you don't have a leak. If you do you'd have to fix and re-charge.
I'd wait and see what everyone else says though...maybe someone else has a better solution for you.

Anyway, see my response to the other thread you asked this question into. Search is a wonderful feature!
