Default front end loose?? Wobbles at 65 +???

97 ls 4x4. New ball joints as of 10k ago. So I am sure it is not them. truck has 205k and runs strong!! The trucks front shimmys at high speed and she is starting to eat tires. Anything over 65 and she jiggles like hell. The outer egde of the front tires is starting to cup. Jacked it up and heres what I found. Holding the tire at 12 and 6 o'clock, trying to jiggle up and down (ball joint test) and she is firm. However, holding the tire at 3 and 9 o clock and there is massive play and wobble. Even when someone is holdingthe steering wheel tight. What is this????????Tie rods look ok.....help

Once you get those replaced, get your wheels balanced too. If you lost a wheel weight you'd get that wobble without any front end damage normally from 90Km/h and up

Idler arm, possibly pitman arm, double check the tie rod ends, with that kinda miles they could be worn. And I doubt the wheel bearings are bad, they would usually have a noise with them, and they would have the movement at the 12 and 6 wobble test. The idle arms on these trucks are very, very common, and go out quite often. Good luck, HTH.

Have a friend do the wobbling, while you look to see where the slop is. You can do this with the steering column locked, (Key out..) and you will be able to pinpoint what parts are giving you the problem.
