Default Fuel filter question.

Okay.. just because there's some debate over where it's located and how much of a job it is... where is it located and how much of a job is it on a 99 blazer zr2 4x4 to change the fuel filter? Is it accessible with the truck jacked up without having to move/drop the gas tank?

Please say it is

Default RE: Fuel filter question.

There are many post about this around there is a tutorial on here I linked below. It should be visbile along the outside of the framerail on the driver side about halfway between the wheels. Its pretty staright forward filter will run you like $10 at walmart. You shouldnt need to jack the truck up to get to it but if you had acess to a lift or something like that im sure it would make it more comfortable. https://blazerforum.com/m_99394/tm.htm

Minor correction. It is on the inside of the frame rail. And that tutorial is fantastic..shouldn't have any problems if you follow that!

Thanks for the compliments on the tutorial. Yes it is located on the inside drivers side frame rail. I believe it was 2003 that they mounted the fuel filter in the tank, it might have been the 2004/05 year though that they did that, I can't remember (I saw it somewhere on this forum not to long ago from swartlkk). Its not too hard to do, just about as hard as any other fuel filter.

So the Zr2 is inside odd, my bravada has it on the outside of framerail. If only GM could make up its mind.

I believe that all s-series trucks have an external fuel filter. It wasn't until the 2005 GMT360/370 platform (trailblazer, envoy, rainier, etc) that they moved to an internal fuel filter.
