So I seen a video on Youtube where this guy has his sending unit off of his pump from his 4.3 S-10 and was showing you how these little prongs stop touching the half moon shaped rheostat after wear because the main frame part of the float where that arm attaches is cheap plastic. He could not have been more right. I took my tank off for the 3rd time and the pump out for the first time and unsnapped the sending unit and was excited to see that the play in that piece caused those 2 pieces of metal to lose contact. All I did was pop out the base of the arm and bend those little fork things so they would touch no matter how far out the play let it go. He ground down the plastic to make a better fit but I did not have the resources for that. I put everything back and got in the vehicle and it worked! One thing, though, after 2-3 minutes and putting it in reverse to back off of the car ramps, the gauge jumped up to a half a tank from where it was which was right at the point where the fuel light comes on. It jumped for like 30 seconds and I turned off the vehicle and cranked it back and it didn't jump anymore. It's late so I haven't test drove it yet so we'll see about that tomorrow. Sorry for writing a novel and thanks for those who have hang in here with me with the replies.
