fuel prob now really stumped
ill try to keep this short. 2 weeks ago i crossed some pretty deep water. i ended up with water in my tank which was not clean at all. i dropped the tank cleaned it with methyal hydrate, changed the filter still no start. fuel pump was making no noise. so i changed the sending unit. pump now comes on. truck still wont start. relay must be good or pump woulnt come on. i know there is a pressure regulator on there and a couple of solinoids. anyone know how to test them? any other ideas? im dying without my truck! stuck with the old ladys hhr lol
i should add that no matter how much gas i have in there when i put the key to on it shows very little or no gas

What are you working on...? What is the fuel pressure as shown on a fuel pressure gauge? What happens to the pressure after you turn the key off?

Did you crack the line coming out of the fuel pump to see if it's sending fuel?

Your gas gauge issues are the key to this.
There are 4 wires that go to the fuel pump on this vehicle. Two of them are for power to the fuel pump and two are for the fuel gauge. The connector that goes to the fuel pump itself is a common failure point on these trucks.
The two thicker wires are for the power to the pump and the two smaller ones are for the fuel guage. Once you replace the plug check for 12v to the two thicker ones. If you don't get 12v with the key on then replace the relay located in the fuse box under the hood.(pump only runs for 2 sec to prime then shuts off unless engine is running so get a helper)
A bad harness/plug at the pump can damage the relay and give low voltage. Low voltage will burn out a pump very quickly.
