Default Fuel Pump

I need a fuel pump for my 98 Blazer 4door.
Will this pump work for my blazer?
I bought one off ebay and took it to my mechanic and he said that it was not even close to working. But the listing said it was for a 98 blazer but it didn't work.
The picture on this one looks a little different than the one i was sent.
Any ideas...

According to the info in the auction it will work. But there is a difference between the 2 door pumps and the 4 door pumps. There is also a difference depending what size tank you have. Neither of those were listed in the auction.
That said, you should be able to return it and get your money back.
You should either buy one from your local parts store or a reputable online source. I would try to stay away from Master brand fuel pumps though. But, that is just my thoughts.

All the work to change a fuel pump go with OEM.

i'd love to buy one from like advance, but there is now way i can afford a $250+ fuel pump on my budget.
How do i figure out what size gas tank i have?
I talked to the guy who sold me the first pump, it was listed as PN. MU112. He said if i could figure out which one i need he'd replace it for me. Any idea what the number might be for the fuel pump i need?.

Thanks!

Get the OE pump or you'll be doing the job again in short order. Something about the aftermarket pumps and our vehicles...they just don't seem to play well together.

My question is, when i go to RockAuto (where i usually buy my stuff from) there are 3 different options for fuel pumps...
4 Door; Steel Tank; w/ Module Codes SGJ,SFU
4 Door; Plastic Tank
4 Door, w/18 Gal. Tank

How do i Know which one i need?

I have a 95 chevy blazer. I ordered some hub assemblies off the internet and they did not fit. The pic on the net was different from what I ordered also. If I remember correctly I ordered them from 1Aauto. They took good care of me so I dont have anything bad to say about them, but I will never order anything off the net. As for my fuel pump I got mine at Autozone and I think I paid 125.00 with a life time warrenty. I cut a trap door in the floor under the back seat so I dont have to drop my fuel tank. I can now change my fuel pump in less than 10 minutes.

Well, my Blazer is a '96, and it appears that the choices I have only depend on whether it's a 2- or 4-door. But if I were you, I'd just crawl under the truck and check for myself. You'll then immediately know whether it's a plastic or steel tank. If it's steel, then the question is whether it's the smaller one or the 18-gallon.

There are also codes in the glove box that will tell you what the tank design is, but I don't know how to read them. You may be able to find them in your owner's manual or the Haynes manual.

That's great, and congratulations for doing that. Now would you mind posting a how-to with pix? It could help a lot of people.
