Yes and I do think it was because of a loose positive connection on the battery, something I need to address soon

So it happened to me again, First I fixed the pos. connection, second bought a box of 25 fuses. put 1 in turned the key to on and saw it pop. one by one check everything I checked last week with a new fuse inserted. on the the 4th fuse I wiggled the ground wires from the battery and the fuse didnt pop and it fired up. disconnected the ground to the frame and body cleaned them up and I hope its all set. The one to the body right in under the head light was a sheet metal screw and it had pulled the metal forward making a real sketchy connection. I think, hope this was the culprit

Nope wasnt the connections but this time a new fuse and a quick wiggle of the wires got me home. I disconnect the neg terminal connection and cleaned and re crimped it. Took it for a drive hitting every bump I could and when I got wiggled all the wires trying to get it to blow, couldnt do it. Please let me have fixed it!

A poor ground will not cause a fuse to blow, (grounds are not fused). What fuse is blowing? Is this on your 1998?

Have/had a power wire run direct from the battery to a multi slot bar I was planning on using for my lights, non fused. Had it snaked through the fender up around the hinge and tucked behind the wiper motor. Cut it at the battery, lets see if that was it

just pulled the whole piece out no bare wire showing

Would that be ECM 1 (15 amp) or ECM B (20 amp)? Both are in the underhood fuse panel.

Makes a huge difference where we start looking for a problem

On the underside of the underhood fuse panel cover, there should be a white sticker telling where each fuse is located.
