Slow down, use Capitals and Punctuation. What do you mean you rewired the plug? What kind of fuel pump is it? Have you checked fuses? Relay? Loose ground?

When I replaced the fuel pump in mine I replaced it with a Bosch fuel pump that came with a differrent connector than factory that you just plugged in if that's what you're talking about. That fuel pump lasted exactly 1 week and I only drove it twice. I replaced it with a Delphi and haven't had any problems since. Run a fuel pressure test and see if you're getting pressure @ the shrader- if not you can almost guarantee it's the pump. Is the fuel filter newer?

If you are not hearing the pump kick in then the first thing that you need to do is check that it is getting power.

Disconnect the plug and connect a volt meter to it and have someone turn the key to on. There are 4 wires, two for power to the pump and two that control the fuel gauge. I'm sorry that I don't know the colors of which is which by memory but you can find that information in any number of the hundreds of fuel pump threads here.

If you have a full 12v to the plug then you probably have a faulty new fuel pump. If you don't have 12v at the plug then your problem lies further to the front. Start by rechecking your connections to the new plug first.

In the under hood fuse box there is a fuel pump relay that will need to be checked. You can easily test if this relay is the problem by switching it out with one of the other known working relays of the same type such as the horn relay, fog lamps, ect.

If you have made it to that point without finding the issue let us know and we can continue helping to trace the problem from there.

I think the wire colors are Gray for the pump, Purple for the gauge and Black for Ground.

This isn't your problem. Would be a good idea to change, but let's get it running first huh? You say that you purchased a fuel pump from AutoZone, there are different kinds, did you get the AC Delco, or a cheaper one? Do you have a warranty on the Fuel Pump? What I would do is guess it's nothing else besides a faulty Fuel Pump, or something with the wiring when you put it in. I think this because that was the initial problem and the new Fuel Pump fixed it for a while but now is happening again. Maybe I contradicted myself on that one lol. Sorry just got back from the bar. What made you change the Fuel Pump in the first place? Was it doing the same thing? If so, follow what 'awe341' said and check for power.

Default Same problem here!

I just spent the day replaceing my fuel pump. I took it to a car wash the other day, drove a few blocks to sonic and it died. I managed to drive another block to the house and it would start no more. After replacing the pump I turned the ignition and no whirring sound and truck won't start. I replaced the relay with a different one and still nothing. I too had to replace the plug and have a feeling that is where the problem lies. I bought the pump off the web from 1Aauto.com it was cheap so I guess I got what I paid for. Anyone have any suggestions. I noticed someone said the gray wire was for the pump. Do I put my red or black tester lead on that and where to I put the other to ground it?
