Default Fuel pump sending unit- can I just replace the pump in there?

I am mechanically fit to take things apart. I see AC Delco pumps only for like $54 bucks on ebay. Now i read that the sending unit can not be taken apart, and then I read someone say it can be and they done it before.

Is this true? I know some people just have the cash to buy the whole thing and its easier for them to just say buy the whole unit, but those strapped on cash can this be an option?

I KNOW I'M GOING TO GET RAGGED OUT THE WATER FOR THIS ONE!!! lol

My fuel pump went bad and I replaced it with this pump, it was cheap and I was (and still am strapped on cash!). Everyone swears by AC Delco pumps or the ones with the $300+ list price. I'm not saying you don't get what you pay for but this pump has done me fairly well and I'd rather replace on of these every year then to let those bastards at autozone, napa, etc. get my hard earned money by not letting me buy individual parts! I've found NO WHERE that sells separate parts for the fuel pump itself. So maybe you could do yourself a favor and just buy this pump for its CHEAP price and A: use it for the parts you need or B: Just replace the entire thing. Again, for me, so far so good. Gotcha.... just trying to help ya! But I believe you can take them apart, if not - I don't see why they'd sell the parts to do so? But from looking at the one I took out, it definitely looks possible to "rebuild".

Yes the pump module can be taken apart and replace just the pump itself.

because the pump worked this time does not mean when you get to work shut it off it will work again.. yes you can take the sending unit and pump apart.. I bought my pump off Ebay, and put it into the old housing. the pump has a 1 year warranty and it was $55 shipped to my door. I am able to do the work myself so even if i have to replace it again it is still by far cheaper than the $276 one at Autozone. good luck to ya.
