Default Fuel tank issue on a 2001 LT 4 door

So, suspecting a fuel pump problem, I dropped the tank( a black poly type) an found a problem alright! The 4 tabs that hold the fuel sending unit ring in place are totally rusted away along with most of the retaining ring. I can’t find any company that sells an aftermarket 2001 4door tank! All the junk yards here tell me they “punch holes” in fuel tanks to drain them as soon as they come in, so no used tanks available. If I were looking for a 99 or older they are available almost any where or even for a 2001 2door. Only place I found one was Chevy dealer, $1339.67 Plus shipping! Does any one know if a ‘98/99 4 door tank will or could be made to work on a 2001 4door? Any help appreciated!

I'm sure it will fit. You might run into locations where itll bump the tank, but you should be able to compensate using the straps.

it's not a tank but; I picked out an aluminum skid plate set with a metal gas tank skid plate. I had to fold down the end of the skid plate a little to fit over the tank. So they made the tank a little longer(2" or so)I guess from 95-99. Same "could" go for yours.

I like looking for shared part numbers to confirm fitment.

If you go to a gm parts dealer (I like GM Parts Giant because you can also use a VIN) and input the vehicle specs, you can look for the parts for each year vehicle. Then if there are "fitting options" designated by the RPO codes, you can search for these on your RPO sticker and also look them up at RPOcodes.com.

For you, I'd suggest putting in your VIN to see what the part number would be for your tank. Then look up what tanks they put into the 95-99 Blazers. Of the ones listed, you can see which ones go with the different RPO codes to confirm fitment. E.g. you might find that a certain tank was only for export and indicated by looking up the RPO code.
