Default Is This a Genuine Acdelco Fuel Pump?

I posted in this thread: https://blazerforum.com/forum/2nd-ge...trainer-68486/ asking how to tell if I received a phony Acdelco pump when I ordered it from Amazon. I was instructed to post some pictures when I got it, so here they are. Hopefully one of these will be good enough. I linked them since they're huge:

In one of those you can clearly see "Delphi" stamped on the connector down inside the module. Is that normal for an Acdelco? Also in the original thread I linked to above, Captain Hook stated that a real ACD pump should have the strainer already attached when you receive it. The pump I got doesn't have the strainer included. It came with the rubber ring, the float arm, and the new harness. About the harness, is it a better idea to solder it instead of using the connectors provided?

Delphi makes connectors for lots of manufacturers so I wouldn't let that bother you. The pump looks good to me although I would have expected to see the GM part number as well as the AC Delco part number on there somewhere. Maybe the number on top crosses over...

I googled the part numbers on the top of the pump, and the only one that I could get an Acdelco match for was the fuel pressure sensor. Zero results for the other number. The fact that a strainer wasn't included isn't a bad sign? Also, should I use the included connectors for the harness or solder them?

Here is what my ac delco pump looks like and yes it is the real thing. It is also packed in an ac delco box that is lined with foam. It has the strainer attached. The color is more of a cream color not white like your pictures.

Thanks for the pictures CAB. One question for you. Did any of the paper work that was in the box mention Acdelco anywhere on it? I ask because nowhere on any of the instructions does it say Acdelco. The box itself looks nothing like yours, it is just a plain brown box with an Acdelco label on the end, which you can see in that last picture I posted the link to. I noticed that you have a two-door, I wonder if that is the reason for the differences. I am starting to think that I got ripped off though, maybe Captain Hook was right about Amazon.

Yes. My instructions have acdelco with the little registered trademark symbol. I am no expert but I would be leery of what you got. I would think there would be little visual difference between a two door pump and a 4 door pump, especially the picture taken from the top that clearly shows the pump is marked with acdelco. I believe the only difference in the pumps is due to the shape of the fuel tank. Maybe somebody will chime in and confirm this.

Ac Delco has a form on their website to report/inquire about counterfeit parts. I filled it out and sent it, so we'll see what they have to say. I will report back when I get a response, hopefully others here will see it and avoid getting ripped off like I might have been. I can't wait to see what Amazon's response will be.

CAB, where did you buy your pump?

I got it off craigs list. Guy had receipts $250. I offered $100 and he took it. If your a little good at taking things apart you can get an acdelco repair kit. I have done it a few times and it isn't real hard and saves you about $200. You just have to figure out what kit is for your truck.

I just noticed my pump has a red inspection mark by the black connector and yours doesn't.

Either way it will be interesting to find out who made your pump.

The pump that is still in the truck actually still works, but my fuel gauge hasn't worked for five years or so. I've read some post around here that when your gauge goes, the pump is probably going to fail soon as well. Figured I'd change it before I get stuck somewhere when it finally does go.

Almost every part you receive from the dealership comes in a box exactly like that. I wouldn't be so critical when you don't even know if what you're looking at is what it's suppose to be. I'd put $100 up saying that pump is genuine.
