Default got a small oil leak

Alright i have a 99 blazer with a 4.3l and im having a small oil leak. i think i know where its coming from but im not a mechanic and i dont know how to fix it, if it is what i think it is. its right in between the E.G.R and the water pump. it looks like a gasket maybe is coming out.

its kinda of hard to see the pic but its between the egr and the hose in the back

That is the seal between the block & the intake manifold that opens into the lifter valley and is typically made up of just RTV sealant. That gets redone as part of an intake manifold gasket replacement.

If it isn't leaking a lot of oil, I wouldn't get into it; just keep on top of the oil level checks to make sure you don't run low.

If it really bothers you, order yourself the Fel-pro MS98002T gasket set & read up on the work required.

You could clean up the surrounding area, but I wouldn't touch the actual spot where it's leaking. You are much more likely to make it worse than better. If you were going to do anything, you may just want to wash the front of the motor down with some degreaser and leave it at that.

Putting it on the outside isn't going to stop the leak. To fix it properly, the oil & sealer needs to be cleaned off on both the block & the intake, then the sealer needs to be reapplied. That really isn't something that can be done very easily with the intake on the engine.
