This is probably a dumb question but how much weight can a 98 Jimmy 4-door carry in the rear area safely? Our troop and I were doing my Eagle Scout Project yesterday and it entailed about as much weight in materials as the truck itself, but how much weight could the truck carry at one time? FYI, I didn't use it to carry anything heavier than 12 bags of sand, which was 480 lbs centered between the folded seats and the cargo area (but more in the back seat area) because I didn't want it to blow my transmission. I had Lowe's deliver all the stuff required to complete this monumental project so we didn't have to worry about the Jimmy's tranny, transfer case, diffs, suspension or engine (or my mom's lexus' parts (all of the above)! )

Also: I noticed that 5W-30 oil in 90F (heat wave here) degree weather produces like 20 PSI oil pressure at idle, little more than 40 at speed, 50 during a kickdown. Is that about right? I am used to 10W-30 pressure, which we usually use. I had the oil changed at the local oil change chain place with 10W-30 with Lucas Oil Stabilizer with 10W-30 and it perked right up 40 PSI at Idle, around 50-60 at speed, 60 during a kickdown getting on the highway, which is about what I am used to. Does that sound about right for a 4.3?

480 pounds would not be a problem. Look at the sticker on the driver's door pillar and note the GVWR figure. Here's an explanation of GVWR.
Your oil pressure readings are fine.
